ESPN plans to attempt to trade for NBC’s Al Michaels for Monday Night Football, per Andrew Marchand.

The plan would be to pair him with Peyton Manning. If this was to happen, NBC has Mike Tirico ready to step in.

ESPN also has interest in Philip Rivers.

Why do these networks assume a guy like Peyton Manning will be good on air? Romo is an exception.

Why wouldn't Peyton be good? Incredible knowledge of the game + good personality and sense of humor.
I think he'd be a success. Probably not Romo good but still good. Can't be worse than 90% of the other assholes on TV.

Romo's reign as the highest-paid TV sports analyst short-lived?

Reports surfacing that ESPN is prepared to offer Peyton Manning $18 million to $20 million a year to call Monday Night Football

I have little doubt Manning would be excellent. He knows more then anyone about the game, very personable and funny, experience in commercials, SNL etc. How would he not be top 5 immediately? Seems like a can't miss.

It's more than that Harry. You have to speak well, know when to talk and when to not talk etc. All of that stuff is important not just knowledge and personality.

Everybody sucks off Romo. Yes he’s better than Witten, but who isn’t? People get so amazed he can call a play after being a QB and studying the game for 20+ years of his life.

Once Peyton starts talking about football Romo is going to play second fiddle.

MNF needs some comedy to it besides these right winger klans making fun of booger on there every Monday. Peytons the guy

Mobbie ask a fellow poster: "What time is it?"
Poster: "Sorry, I don't know, I have no watch."
Mobbie: "Never mind, the main thing is we argue about it."

Mobbie and Boogie are like a jukebox that you can't shut off.

He has all the tools, and all indications are based on his non-football endeavors that he has the aforementioned skills as well.
TBD I guess. As close as you can get to a can't miss that exists though.
